The cookbook brings back so many memories.

The baking cookbook is written well and has many delicious recipes in in. I remember my host mom making many of these items. My adult children are ready to try them out too. I am making the rice pies soon!

What measurements are used in recipes?

I'm using American measurements (Imperial system units) in the recipes. So 1 cup in recipe = 2,5 deciliters.

My recipe is different!

There are many variations of Finnish traditional food recipes in different areas of Finland, some are very different from others. Please comment on the recipe so we all can learn how you make it!

Is Finland a Scandinavian country?

No, but Finland is part of Fennoscandia peninsula and it is one of the Nordic countries, in North Europe.

Scandinavia is Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

Finland also did not have Vikings 😊 who were from Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland. And no polar bears either. Northern lights yes, especially in Lapland.

What are Finns like?

Finns are known to be silent, hardworking and honest people. Full of sisu, a special unexplainable power to go forward. We are technical, practical, follow the rules, like to make a queue and need a drink to be able to dance. We warm up slowly but we keep our friends for life.
